About RCSD

Richland County Sheriff's Department is comprised of nearly 700 sworn officers and more than 100 non-sworn employees and serves a population of approximately 422,000 people within a 772-square mile area in the Midlands of South Carolina.

Applicants Must Complete:

• Background Investigation

• Drug Screening

• Physical Evaluation – Physical Agility Test (PAT)

• Psychological Evaluation

• Polygraph Exam

Applicants Must:

• Have a 4-year degree from an accredited college/university, or Associate Degree and 2 years of previous law enforcement or military experience, or be a currently certified law enforcement officer.

• Judicial Services Officer & Court Security Officer candidates must have a High School Diploma from an accredited school or GED.

• Be at least 21 years of age.

• Have no criminal history.

• Possess a valid driver's license with limited violations.

• Meet physical fitness standards. Including a pre-employment PT Test.

• Successfully complete training at the Criminal Justice Academy.
